Snaring IS the method used to trap badgers by the Department of Agriculture despite the Minister’s outrageous attempt to deny and conceal this fact. Who is he trying to hoodwink?
The AOHS believes that the method of capture is a barbaric wire snare which holds the helpless badger in excruciating pain until it is dispatched by gunshot or clubbed to death the next morning at the earliest as some accounts by farmers have revealed. That is if the badger has not been strangled beforehand by the snares wire. When nursing female badgers are snared and shot, their cubs are left to starve to death underground. The DOA refuse to allow a period for lactating badgers to raise their young without risk of torture"

6000 protected badgers are killed by Department of Agriculture snares which are set in Ireland every night.
Members of the AOHS are asking the public for information in relation to where the snares will be set. Any sent to us by the public or found by us will be destroyed. Currently we know that FARM RELIEF SERVICES in Cork are recruiting the badger killers. We will be initiating a campaign highlighting who is directly involved in this massacre.

Snares are most definitely being used by the Department, and the snaring is being conducted under license from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.

Protected wildlife but still 6000 killed by the Irish Government annually.

watch out for badger snares

I fully endorse the call to destroy any of these awful snares, and I say this as a reasonable dairy farmer of twenty five years. Badgers are being wrongly blamed for spreading for TB. I've found many of those snares and I've always cut them up. I'm totally against that vegan rubbish but I believe animals should be treated humanely. I enjoy my meat and veg like 99 percent of Irish people but no animal should be made to suffer at the hands of man before it dies.
