He regaled us with facts and figures regarding the growth of the war industry in the EU, and his anecdotal tales from his trip to war-torn Syria illuminated a situation that is far more complex than the simple narrative we receive from the mainstream press: the “goodies” (united coalition of “rebels”) versus the “baddy” (the power-hungry, brutal, authoritarian leader)
