Last night's violence in Epping is the desperate cry of people who have been ignored for decades, says David Shipley. Violence must be condemned. But if the state doesn?t change course, and fast, we will see many Eppings.

From vaccine passports in 2021 to 'Britcard' digital ID in 2025, it's becoming clear we need a Digital Bill of Rights to protect us from being brought under the technocratic grip of a surveillance state, says Alan Miller.

offsite link Why is Modernity so Ugly? Fri Jul 18, 2025 11:00 | Joanna Gray
Why is the modern world so unremittingly ugly, wonders Joanna Gray. As yet another interchangeable block of beige bricks springs up in town, the contrast with the glories of the structures our ancestors built is damning.

This was the week that the climate consensus died in Parliament, says Ben Pile. In the debate that followed Ed Miliband's statement on "nature and climate" something new was heard in the House of Commons: dissent.

Monarchist system must go

category international | rights, freedoms and repression | other press author Monday May 02, 2011 13:27author by Eddie Ford Report this post to the editors

Eddie Ford writes why it is in workers interests not just to get rid of the monarchy but also the whole system attached to it. Full article at url below.

Apparently the marriage of William Arthur Philip Louis Windsor and Catherine Elizabeth Middleton represents a “lovely fairy tale” - a “beautiful love story” of ideal romance and courtship. Or so Johnny Rotten, former fake anarchist turned monarchist propagandist, dribbled in the pages of The Sun when the royal couple’s engagement was officially announced.[1] The same sort of things were said about Charles Windsor and Diana Spencer - who were supposedly wafting about on cloud nine, when in reality they were miserable participants in a nightmarish charade, with the then naive Diana finding herself the victim of a cruel deception.

Execution of Charles I in January 1649: communists want to do more than get rid of kings and queens

The whole absurd and befuddling spectacle of pomp-and-circumstance is a ‘wedding of mass distraction’ - promoting the historic virtues of the ruling class, and the establishment as a whole; precisely at the time when it is carrying out wholesale attacks on the working class, with plenty more to come. Even if David Cameron and his grandees had planned it in advance, the timing of the royal wedding could not have been much more fortuitous - anything that helps to dampen down resistance to the government’s scheme, even if only temporarily, is to be welcomed.

Is it only me or are some of the, how would i describe, i suppose non republican left in Ireland only getting their finger out on the whole royal visit thing when their 'leaderships' in Britain say its ok. They are more concerned not to get tarred with that dastardly irish republican rabble that are against it. I read in one anarchist site that the royal visit and whole monarch question should not be debated on a nationalist argument (obvious) following that it is not between irish people and english people, again fairly obvious, i feel that a lot of them have an idea that there is some disillusioned element in ireland that are against this because its british and they are more concerned to position themselves away from a made up bunch of non existant (obviously right wing reactioary) nationalists who will be opposing this . Any open nationalist sentiment in ireland is republican, what 'nationalists' does anyone know of in ireland that has come out against the royal visit and is not from a civic, secular or left perspective. I just wonder really. Any Nationlist sentiment of the irish people that i know that will be protesting will be directed in a civic republican way and will of course pose the historical injustices committed on this geographical space, which is an island, by the elite of England.

Who believes in discrimination?
Who believes in blue,royal blood?
Why a certain group earn the levy of tax payers and take others bread?
What is all luxury for?
Why a country which doesn't own any oil must have a big oil company in the name of british oil?
are they allowed to rub and steal the wealth of other countries and divide it with
their royal family and monarch?
COME ON BOYS,GIRLS LET US LAUGH ON THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN ABSURD LIFE OF ARISTOCRATS.
LET'S BREAK ALL INEQUALITY AND DIVIDE THE WEALTH BETWEEN EVERYBODY.
JESUS HAD A BASKET OF FISH AND BREAD,HE FED EVERYBODY
EQUALLY.
OUR QUEEN IS VIRGIN MARY NOT ANYBODY ELSE.
VIVA EQUALITY
