Dr Shahrar Ali was the Green Party justice spokesman when he was removed over his gender critical views. He won an unlawful discrimination claim in 2024. But the party then ejected him! He's now taking it to court again.

Pope Francis?s Liberalism is Not Why Young People Are Returning to Church Wed Apr 30, 2025 11:00 | Dr Roger Watson
As a Catholic, Prof Roger Watson is sure Francis was appointed Pope for a reason. It's just that he's damned if he can figure out what it was. Certainly, it's not his liberalism that's drawn young people back to church.

Cowen didn't sound drunk to me, he was just talking out through the top of his head as usual. This government is determined to ensure that the most vulnerable will carry the can for their mess and their wealthy friends will have their wealth protected. Has anyone met an ex-developer on the dole lately? No amd you won't-most are off in the South of France sunning themselves.
He sounds more slurry as the interview goes on for sure, hungover probably and certainly boring and disinterested. But he always sounds like this doesn't he?
No doubt there is plenty of spare cash in HIS wagepacket to buy lots of overpriced irish drink for all the boys. Seems we have our very own Boris Yeltsin, drunkenly standing by at the rape of our public services and the future indentured servitude of what few of the next generation foolishly remain in this country after the bloated bank bailouts. Plus ca change. Don't you just love capitalism. Where is OUR Vladimir Putin to save us from the brink before it's too late? That's what I want to know!!
I have stipulated this point before & i will state it just one more time .
The electorate of ireland were forewarned about FIANNA FAILURE before the last general
election took place ,
The people of ireland elected these cowboys ( and cowgals ) into office .
You deserve everthing they throw at you , and more .
Brian Cowan was drunk in the morning Ireland interview.
He was still drunk when he was confronted by Ursula Halligan later on.
Cowen and a frightening number of his fellow front benchers have huge problems with drink.
Perhaps they should all be required to give a urine test every morning before being allowed into Dail Eireann. A live television link perhaps into the Dail Bar?
What is this nonsense new word "socialising" when what is actually meant is "drunk out of their minds"?
Brian Cowen Galway drinking parody song, absolutely hilarious. Enjoy :)
I had the privilage of interviewing Taoiseach, Mr. Brian Cowen, T.D . And i have to say he is a pure gentleman . He sort of talks that way . its the way he talks . so i think mr coveny was way out of line .I think its a cheap shot
interview with Taoiseach, Mr. Brian Cowen, T.D 22/11/2008 at opening of wines direct mullingar

An Taoiseach , opens wines direct '08,
"so i think mr coveny was way out of line .I think its a cheap shot"
more like 10 cheap shots! That is assuming of course if you are on a ridiculous salary like his which is apparently larger than that of the US president. For normal folk thanks to cowan and his ilk, there is no such thing as a cheap shot at over 4 euro each.
The saying goes, you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. But here in Ireland the laws of physics just seem to have broken down. We pay wayyy too much, we get cowan and coughlan. I guess that's einstien's theory of evolution for you, eh mary?
I think the fianna fail politicians suffer from a form of dyslexia. when they saw "think in" on the program, they assumed it to be "drink in"
Throw all these drunken idiots into re-hab and remedial teaching and elect some qualified people who have been trained in the areas that they are in charge of instead of these stupid ad hoc appointments of drunken buffoons and scheisters for political gain.
In most jobs you are expected to know a lot about what you are doing. cowen is just wandering about waffling and half pissed from one meeting to the next while the banks and their pals run rings around them and rip us all off laughing. 50 billion takes a long time to pay off. Cowan will be long gone by then on a nice fat pension and it will be too late. Somebody mentioned Boris Yeltsin. I think it is a very apt comparison. The west helped install a drunken buffoon to distract and facilitate them while they robbed the russian people blind as their country collapsed.
@ jackthestroller Yes indeed, a gintleman and accomplished charming waffler. He managed not to give a commitment about the future of that Mullingar greenfield development site, and he pushed the right local folksy button in praising the cultural achievement of the late Joe Dolan. Brian Cowen is a natural populist waffler and the Carr Communications people couldn't teach him anything he hasn't already learned naturally from buttering up middle Ireland over the years.
Have to agree with Sceptic that the voters who supported FF in the last election can stew in their own juice. If you don't like the stew you can change the flavour cubes at the next general election. Not that a FG-Lab administration will necessarily result in happier economic times for the bemused electorate. We'll stew whatever crowd form the next government.
Cowen dodged the question asked at the end of the interview regarding Galway youth being robbed of their future in Ireland due in large part to his party's mismanagement of Ireland's economy.. Cowen's answer flies in the face of economists who talk about Ireland in the same breath as Greece - at the bottom of the indebtedness pool. The Galway graduate knew that her only hope was to migrate or be weighed down with despair along with alienated youth 'wandering the streets.'
Perhaps, Cowen felt that he needed a drink before answering tough questions from journalists about Ireland's economic future. Cowen's answer to the recent Galway graduate was to blast "defeatism," thus ridiculing youth who do feel defeated and despairing about the economic hand they have been dealt by Cowen's policies and inaction, and the crippling monetary burden their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will inherit for generations to come.
