'The Forge at Gort' literary festival is set for the end of March

The third Forge at Gort literature festival at the town of Gort, Co. Galway, is due to take place at the end of March. The festival celebrates the presence of W.B.Yeats, the forge from which he drew materials to reconstruct Thoor Ballylee, and the significance of this town in the Irish Literary renaissance. It is no secret that arts' organisations throughout the country have suffered from Arts Council budget cuts.

The Arts Council have today informed the Centre that they are funding them for the 2010 Forge at Gort Literary festival. This, coupled with sponsorship from a private individual in Dublin, is welcome news and means that the festival can mature into its third year. More news will be broadcast as we get it. The Centre still welcomes every sort of donation and form of sponsorship, and don't forget our 'Friend of the Centre' scheme as mentioned above.
