Are you living in the Border Area and would like to return to learning?

The Borderlands Studies programme is based at the campus of Dundalk Institute of Technology, just six miles from the border. We deliver a Higher Certificate in Borderlands Studies over 2 years and the Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Borderlands Studies over 4 years. The strands covered in Borderlands Studies are History, Politics and Culture at both an Irish and International level.

This April the Borderlands Studies Initiative are offering funded places to people who would like to get a taste of what it would be like to return to learning.
Over ten sessions we will cover,
· Personal Development
· Essential skills
· Numeric Skills
· English/Literacy
· IT skills

You will also develop an awareness of your own cultural identity and explore the impact of cultural diversity in your lives.

We will be running these access courses in the following areas subject to numbers,
· Altnaveigh/Bessbrook. – Tuesday 24th April
· Monaghan/Cavan - Wednesday 25th April
· Mullaghbane – Thursday – 26th April

As a result of the programme we hope that you will gain the confidence to take up opportunities for further study. Three scholarship places will be awarded to the most promising students for the Higher Certificate in Borderlands Studies running in September 2007 subject to numbers.
