The PDs -a party of vision?

This week Michael McDowell was on Today FM - he claimed that his party is a party of vision but then went on to say that the PDs propose to take an idea from the UK - to have Garda stations with bad records of solving crime inspected on a regular basis.

In this case, it could be regarded as a good proposal, but taking YET ANOTHER idea from the UK can hardly be synonymous with 'vision'.

To take just one aspect of PD policy- policing- the PDs have consistently nabbed ideas from the UK; ASBOs, a Garda reserve force, increased use of CCTV cameras etc etc.
Is it that the PDs are so unimaginative or do we still as a nation completely lack self-esteem to take our own initiative?!

I tend to think both are true- our government and authorities never cease to rehash old ideas from the UK (and the US) - very often adopting policies that have failed.

Other colleagues promoted include the Emergency Response guys at Abbeylara
and the Silver Bullets. The vision always was that you get on when you take down.
Promotion and early retirement, a job for life.

I won't be on the streets anymore.
